The ALPRIMA Aparthotel lies in the heart of Hinterstoder. The little municipality at the holiday resort Pyhrn-Priel has only about 1,000 inhabitants and is located at 591 to 2,514 metres above sea level – at the Totes Gebirge mountain range. Away from Alpine kitsch and mass tourism, it’s the perfect starting point for outdoor adventures of all kinds in both summer and winter. A mountain bike tour? Exploring the mountains on foot? Or swooshing down pristine descents on skis? In Hinterstoder, you’ll have a myriad of options!
In summer, nature awaits you at the Stodertal valley – in all its incredible diversity. Rugged summits and endless karst plateaus are lined by blooming meadows and lush green pastures. The region between the Totes Gebirge mountain range and the Kalkalpen National Park offers an incredible variety of options to stay active – always accompanied by the area’s diverse flora and fauna. Can you smell the meadows? And can you hear the bells of the grazing cows on their pastures?
Besides hiking, there’s several other fun ways to explore the resort: Climbers will be just as thrilled as mountain bikers or motorcyclists. And for an extra adrenaline kick, we recommend paragliding – high above the treetops.
Skiers consider Hinterstoder “the perfect mountain village” – not least because of its great location. The slopes at Stodertal valley have plenty to offer for individualists, pros, beginners and families alike. Both little and grown-up snow bunnies are going to love it!
However, winters at the Pyhrn-Priel region may also be enjoyed off the slopes. Perfectly groomed cross-country trails and ice rinks as smooth as glass are other great incentives to leave the house and breathe some crisp mountain air. Those who crave some fun and action are going to find it at the toboggan run – you’ve never made it back down into the valley quite as swiftly before! And all those who are looking for some peace and tranquillity are going to find it on a winter hike through the snowy fairytale landscape of Hinterstoder – promise!

In winter, you may stroll through the Christmas market, wrapped in a cosy jacket and scarf – in summer, you can listen to concerts there. Since way back when, artists have found refuge in the seclusion of Hinterstoder where they can quietly get to work. Literature, sculpture, painting and music all flourish between the mountains of the Totes Gebirge range.
Lovers of culture and the arts should not miss out on a visit to the Alpineum. At this modern exhibition space, the history of the Stodertal valley is featured – but never in an outdated or antiquated manner! The Alpineum combines then and now with both historic and current videos. Get an insight into the perilous work of woodcutters, the infrastructural development of the Totes Gebirge mountain range and the evolution of skiing throughout the years. The exhibition space – which won the “Museum of the Year Award 2000” – makes history come to life in an entertaining manner. A visit is going to impress visitors young and old!
