The well-established ski and World Cup village Hinterstoder-Höss entices with its 40 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes for every level of skill. The ski resort Wurzeralm contributes another 22 exciting kilometres of slopes – along with a number of rustic ski huts, an awesome snow park and the Sunny’s Kids Park. That’s how both little and grown-up snow bunnies feel right at home in Hinterstoder. And in case you’ve only just begun your career as a skiing pro, the ski schools are happy to offer support on your way to becoming a ski star.

Up the mountain and out into the open terrain – and then back down into the valley through amazing powder snow and glorious firn. At the Pyhrn-Priel region surrounding Hinterstoder, a 120-kilometre network of cross-country trails in four different altitudes awaits you. Down in the valley or high up above – the utmost cross-country fun is guaranteed. There’s a total of 26 different cross-country trails to choose from. All you need to do is select the right one for your level of fitness and mood. Whether you want to leisurely glide through the landscape or have a fast-paced workout – you decide.

Use of the high-altitude trails at the Wurzeralm and the Hutterer Böden in Hinterstoder is free of charge. Cross-country skiing anywhere else at the Pyhrn-Priel region costs around EUR 4 per day. For those who can’t get enough: season tickets are available as well.
Tobogganing is fun for all ages. Whether for small children or grown-ups – tobogganing is irresistible. Because who doesn’t love to race down the mountain and through snow-covered forests? And the best part: tobogganing is so easy to do – everyone can do it. If you prefer to leave your own toboggan at home, you can rent one at the shops of Stodertal valley.
The absolute highlight is a floodlit natural toboggan run. Starting at the Landhotel Gressenbauer you can swoosh down into the valley along a distance of 1,2 kilometres. And in case you don’t want to walk up to the starting point at 800 metres above sea level, the toboggan taxi conveniently takes you there. We’re happy to reserve a spot for you!
You want to unwind and leave your everyday worries behind for a while? Then you should go on a snow shoe hike through the white winter wonderland of the Stodertal valley. Accompanied by the soft crunching sound of the snow underneath your feet, you’ll have some exceptional experiences out in nature. With a partner, with friends or with the whole family: Being pulled through a wintry fairytale landscape makes childhood dreams come true – gliding past the sparkly white trees always accompanied by the sound of the horses’ bells. Once you arrive at your destination, a breath-taking view across the picturesque Schiederweiher reveals itself – and right next to it, the steep rock faces of the Großer Priel mountain.

The small but quaint little Christmas market at the village centre of Hinterstoder – surrounded by a breath-taking mountain scenery – resembles a fairytale land.
